Arsenal and Man City secure Champions League quarter-final places

WSL duo join Chelsea and Manchester United in last eight

Arsenal and Manchester City have both secured their places in the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League after impressive victories on Wednesday night.

Arsenal eased to victory at home to Slavia Prague, winning 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead, Katie McCabe and Frida Maanum.

The Gunners were in control throughout and could have won by a bigger margin, with Mead and McCabe both hitting the woodwork. Miedema's goal was her 90th in the Champions League, moving her to fourth on the all-time scoring list.

Manchester City also enjoyed a comfortable victory, beating FC Nordsjælland 5-0 at the Academy Stadium.

Lauren James scored twice for City, with Julie Blakstad, Khadija Shaw and Laura Coombs also getting on the scoresheet. City were dominant from start to finish and could have won by more, with Blakstad and Shaw both missing chances to add to the scoreline.

The results mean that Arsenal and Manchester City join Chelsea and Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League. The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Friday.

Arsenal's victory was their biggest in the Women's Champions League since 2019

Arsenal's 4-0 win over Slavia Prague was their biggest victory in the Women's Champions League since 2019.

The Gunners had not scored four goals in a Champions League match since a 4-0 win over Barcelona in the semi-finals of the 2018/19 competition.

That victory helped Arsenal reach the final of the Champions League for the first time, where they lost to Lyon.

Manchester City's victory was their fourth in a row in the Women's Champions League

Manchester City's 5-0 win over FC Nordsjælland was their fourth in a row in the Women's Champions League.

The Citizens have now won all four of their matches in the competition this season, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one.

City are now one of the favourites to win the Women's Champions League this season.
